About the Constitution Defenders Forum
A citizen-driven initiative committed to defending Zimbabwe's Constitution, safeguarding the rule of law, and resisting all attempts to mutilate our national charter.
Who We Are
The Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) is a non-partisan civic response to the various legal and extra-legal attacks on Zimbabwe's Constitution. We are NOT a political party, nor are we affiliated with any political party.
CDF serves as a platform for all Zimbabweans — churches, business leaders, traditional leaders, war veterans, labor unions, community organizations, informal traders, and individuals — to collaborate in defending the Constitution, promoting constitutionalism, and advancing constitutional rights, democracy, and the rule of law.
We strive to restore people's hope in the promise of a prosperous, shared future for all Zimbabweans.
Our Goals
Our central strategic objective is to recognize that the future of a prosperous Zimbabwe can only be anchored on the basis of a New Consensus — a New Social Contract captured in a modern Constitution that celebrates the values of Democracy and the Rule of Law.
We envision a new social contract that puts faith in our collective and reciprocal responsibilities and obligations. A new consensus that seeks to depersonalize the state and public spaces, creating accountability and equality through strong independent institutions.
We work towards societal transformation where a new citizen emerges, driven by a value system of respect, love, humility and accountability.
