Three Organizations. One Voice.

On 2 April 2026, CDF, DCP, and NCA announced a united front to defend Zimbabwe's Constitution — jointly withdrawing from the fundamentally flawed public hearings on CAB3.

CDF

Constitution Defenders Forum

Convener: Tendai Biti

A non-partisan civic platform uniting all Zimbabweans who believe the Constitution is sacred. CDF brings together churches, business leaders, traditional leaders, war veterans, labor unions, youth, and everyday citizens in defense of constitutional rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

DCP

Defend the Constitution Platform

Led by: Jameson Timba

A civic platform dedicated to protecting Zimbabwe's constitutional order and democratic gains. DCP mobilizes citizens across the country to resist unconstitutional amendments and defend the rule of law.

NCA

National Constitutional Assembly

Led by: Prof. Lovemore Madhuku

Zimbabwe's longest-standing constitutional advocacy organization, founded in the late 1990s. The NCA was instrumental in the people's rejection of the 2000 draft constitution and has remained a watchdog for constitutional integrity ever since.

Joint Statement on Withdrawal from Hearings

On 1 April 2026, the three organizations jointly withdrew from the CAB3 public hearings, declaring them:

"Fundamentally flawed, exclusionary and inconsistent with the spirit and letter of the constitution."

The public hearings (30 March – 4 April 2026) were marred by violence, abductions, and intimidation — including the alleged abduction of student leader Dylan Cole from a lecture hall, violent clashes on the first day, and the systematic exclusion of opposition voices.

The united front insists that any amendment to term-limit provisions requires a national referendum under Section 328(9) of the Constitution, and that Parliament alone cannot lawfully pass CAB3.
